Cyber Security Education

We are recognised by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE). We achieved a Gold ACE-CSE status in 2022, securing our place as one of the top ten universities in the UK delivering high-quality cyber security education.

We work to strengthen and enhance the quality and provision of cybersecurity education and training. Our experts and researchers ensure that our students build an exceptional and comprehensive range of technical skills needed to keep organisations safe and secure.

Our programmes

Our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes aim to develop future cyber security leaders in private and public sector organisations by immersing students in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment embracing major developments in the theory and practise of cyber security.

Our aims

We benefit from links and collaborative work with the cybersecurity industry and we are having an impact throughout Wales and across the World. We aim to:

  • deliver an extensive range of outreach activities for young people and the general public to raise awareness about cyber threats and to educate the public about online safety, initiatives in line with  our University’s Civic Mission agenda
  • develop world-leading Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in cyber security skills to complement our academic taught programmes
  • support the Welsh Government and Cardiff Capital Region Deal in nurturing and retaining more cyber security talent in Wales
  • inspire and generate interest in this arena among young people in Wales by offering outreach activities to secondary schools and further education colleges
  • provide cyber security awareness training to all staff and students across the University
  • engage with international partners to share good practices, systems infrastructure/test beds and community engagement, not only to strengthen awareness of cyber security challenges but to support globally leading research.
