A researcher working in the HEB lab

The Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics is a global centre of excellence for research into the genetic basis of mental health disorders.

The Centre brings together a unique combination of specialisms including psychiatrists, neuroscientists, geneticists and bioinformaticians to work together to better understand a range of mental health conditions.

As well as being one of the largest psychiatric genetics groups in the world, we are the only group researching a range of different disorders across the lifespan from childhood to older age.

Our research aims to expand our understanding of the environmental, genetic and psychological factors that contribute to the development of mental health disorders, with the ultimate goal of informing better diagnosis and treatment.
