On the day
Get the most out of your visit by finding out what to do on the day.
What to do when you arrive
On arrival in Cardiff, please make your way to the University's Main Building where you can collect an information pack and programme. There are entrances from both Museum Avenue and Park Place.
The Main Building is the location for many of the general talks (including Student Finance) and our drop-in advice shops. Student Life talks are located in the Students' Union directly opposite the University's Main Building on Park Place.
Talks and events about specific subject areas are taking place within many of the academic schools, so you can see some of the facilities that you would use as a student in Cardiff University.
You can walk around most of the Open Day activities on the Cathays Campus, but please make sure you allow up to 15 minutes to walk from the Main Building to the Academic Schools.
Shuttle buses will be in use to take visitors on the accommodation tours and the city tour.
Download our Open Day app to help you get the most out of the day. The app gives you useful information at your fingertips.
To ensure your personal safety throughout Open Day, please adhere to all warning and instruction notices and act in a safe and responsible manner on any tours, talks or Open Day activities. In case of an emergency, immediately contact the nearest member of staff, or if you have access to a phone, please phone our Security Control Room on +44 (0)29 2087 4444.
In the event of a fire alarm (a continuous siren), immediately vacate the building by the nearest exit and remain outside until told by University staff that it is safe to re-enter. If you are on an upper floor and have difficulty in negotiating stairs, please make your way to one of the designated safe-haven points, which are signposted, and use the phone there to seek further assistance. Please note that lifts should not be used in the event of a fire.
If you lose a family/group member or become lost on Open Day, please make yourself known to a member of our Security staff in the Porters' Lodge in any of the University buildings.
Please report any items of lost property to staff on the Information Desks, or Security staff.
