The School of History and Archaeology, Cardiff University, is holding a day school in honour of John Percival who was for many years head of the school and subsequently pro vice chancellor of Cardiff University.

Early Medieval Archaeology Student Symposium  -  17 May 2007
 

The Early Medieval Archaeology Student Symposium will create a constructive forum for researchers to express, discuss and explore new research and ideas in an interactive environment. The symposium will explicitly aim to cross traditional period/institutional/theoretical divides to allow discussion between researchers of diverse expertise and perspectives. This symposium will aim to provide a forum for researchers to present ideas and thoughts informally without the pressure of producing complete research ready for publication.

National Science and Engineering Week Event  -  13 March 2007
 

Cardiff School of History and Archaeology and the National Museum Wales are organising this event to take place on 13th March 2007. This will provide a unique opportunity to see how science can reveal what ancient treasure is made of and how it was produced by ancient people. See how the scanning electron microscope is used to analyse an artefact of treasure.

Building Communities: House, Settlement and Society in the Aegean and Beyond  -  17 April 2001
 

Proceedings of this 2001 conference were published in 2007. The event explored a range of approaches to the built environment of the Mediterranean world from the Neolithic through to the Roman period, with the aim of relating archaeological evidence to the wider historical context.
