Clinical Pharmacy (MSc/Diploma)

Aim

To develop the knowledge and skills  required by a pharmacist to provide the best input into patient care for those working in a hospital setting.

Admission Criteria

You must be a registered pharmacist with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain or a country where there is a reciprocal agreement AND working in one of the accredited hospitals (see below). In addition evidence of English proficiency (UK GCSE English, grade C or above or IELTS 6.5 or equivalent) is required. If a foreign candidate has 18 months or more work experience in the United Kingdom (UK), they may be exempt from taking the IELTs or equivalent examination, if the Course Director receives a satisfactory testimony from the previous employer in the UK.

MSc in Clinical Pharmacy

On successful completion of the Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, candidates may elect to undertake a further 1 year of part-time study to obtain an MSc in Clinical Pharmacy. If the hospital is not accredited for the MSc training it may seek accreditation for a 1 year period to enable you to undertake the MSc.

Accredited Hospitals and Teaching Centres

The administration and management centre for the course is based in the Health and Medicines Unit of the Cardiff School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The day to day operation of the course is carried out at 4 accredited teaching centres under the guidance of an Associate Course Director appointed to each centre. The teaching centres currently accredited are Oxford, North-, South East- and South West- Wales covering a total of 22 accredited hospital sites.

A number of hospitals in England and Wales have been accredited as clinical teaching sites for the MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy. These are listed below grouped into five teaching centres:
