Open days

Want to know more about being a medical or medical pharmacology student at Cardiff? Come and find out for yourself...

As well as frequent University open days we hold several medicine-specific events each year.

Open Day
A prospective student enjoying one of our open day activities

This allows prospective students, parents, applicants, teachers and careers advisors to gain a more in-depth understanding of both our medical courses and the facilities on offer.

You'll get a chance to:

  • meet admissions staff
  • chat to current students and Cardiff trained doctors
  • explore our facilities
  • try out your clinical skills under supervision.

2017 Medicine Open Days

These will be held on:

  • Friday 23 June
  • Saturday 24 June.

Although primarily aimed at prospective students, we have a parallel programme for parents, guardians, teachers and careers advisors and we would be delighted if you wanted to join us too, either solo or with a student.

Based at the Heath Park campus, the student programme covers key elements of becoming a doctor, with talks on our selection process, life as a doctor, funding for their medical degree, Case Based Learning and a Q&A panel as well as workshops covering Clinical Skills, Simulation Suite, life as a medical student, Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) and writing their personal statement. We’ll also provide lunch and plenty of opportunity to talk to our students about what it’s really like in medical school.

Each prospective student is invited to bring one parent, guardian or teacher with them and a separate full-day programme will cover most of these subjects, but from an angle that looks at the support they, and we, can provide. (Lunch also provided)
