Thomas Breeze has studied piano, organ, viola and voice with a variety of teachers from the University of Wales and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He gained a first-class degree in music from Cardiff University and won five prizes while an undergraduate, including one from his fellow students for distinguished contribution to music-making in the university. After graduating, he went on to gain a Master’s degree in Performance Studies, specialising in the organ and receiving academic supervision and tuition in early keyboard techniques from Professor Peter Williams.
After completing his MA, Tom spent a year lecturing in the university, and then trained as a teacher. He now plays professionally across South Wales and beyond, is on the teaching staff of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and has now returned to Cardiff University to teach in the Centre for Lifelong Learning. As well as his work as an accompanist on piano, organ and harpsichord, Tom has also given solo organ recitals on historic instruments such as the Willis organ in Eglwys Dewi Sant in Cardiff, and the Byfield organ in Llangors near Brecon.
