High Level Translation Spanish-English Distance Learning Course On-line

This course will introduce students to translation skills and equip intermediate students of Spanish with the necessary skills to progress to the Higher Level Translation Skills course.  Most work on the course revolves around the translation of a variety ot Spanish texts from many different genres.  It will also include some basic translation theory and strategy.

Our High-Level Translation Distance Learning Course has been specifically designed to prepare candidates for the Diploma in Translation from the Institute of Linguists. The course will include assignments based on Paper 1 of the Diploma and all six specialisms in Papers 2 and 3, but it is important to stress that the course does not specialise in any of the linguistic fields offered for these Papers.

The course consists of two modules the first of which runs from the end of January to June. The second module runs from September to early January with a short break for Christmas in view of optimum preparation for the Diploma exams in mid-January. Interested, potential course participants are invited to translate two test pieces which the course tutor will mark and on which feedback will be returned. The test pieces are designed to assist potential participants to gain a realistic evaluation of their standard immediately before the course commences.
