Peter Oborne Dispatches:It Shouldn’t Happen To A Muslim

Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies has carried out research into the press coverage of British Muslims since 2000 for the Channel Four documentary Dispatches.

Research commissioned by Dispatches into the ways in which Islam and British Muslims are represented in British newspapers was carried out by the School’s staff over the past month.

The in-depth study analysed around a thousand newspaper articles about British Muslims in the British Press from 2000 to 2008.

The Channel Four documentary, It Shouldn’t Happen To A Muslim, investigates whether the 7/7 London Bombings and the fear of terrorism has fuelled the rise of violence, intolerance and hatred against British Muslims.

The research was carried out by Kerry Moore, Dr Paul Mason and Prof Justin LewisDispatches: It Shouldn’t Happen To A Muslim was broadcast Monday 7th July on Channel 4.
