A former newspaper reporter, feature writer, subeditor and production journalist, Glyn has worked across a range of news beats including crime, health and local government.

Glyn is a co-author of The 21st Century Journalism Handbook and is currently collaborating on a book on digital subediting for multiplatform journalism.

He is a member of the British Computer Society, Investigative Reporters and Editors, and the Online News Association.

Teaching

Glyn teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, specialising in digital journalism.

Research Interests

Glyn has a keen interest in data journalism and developer/journalism. He is also part of an AHRC/EPSRC- funded project looking at hyperlocal journalism as an aspect of creative citizenry. Subediting, human computer interaction and journalistic innovation are also areas of research. His MSc in Elearning Technologies focused on professional practice development in social networks.

Supervision

Current supervisions at both postgraduate and undergraduate level include:

  • The impact of the internet on the undergraduate experience
  • Social capital within online communities
