Emma Gilliam has almost twenty years experience working in BBC newsrooms across the English Regions local radio network, as a reporter, producer, presenter and - most recently - news editor.
Her 2004 documentary about then Home Secretary David Blunkett received widespread national media coverage - it was recorded before, during and after revelations about his private life.
Emma has trained hundreds of journalists in Ghana, Somalia, Russia, Burma, Thailand and India as part of BBC World Service Trust projects, with a focus on media communication for development.
A graduate of the Cardiff postgraduate broadcast journalism diploma herself, Emma has used her journalism skills across radio, television, and community-based interactive programming.
Emma teaches on the Postgraduate Diploma and Masters in Broadcast Journalism and also teaches a module - "Writing for the Media Today" on the BA Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies degree.
