My current work with the title “Another standpoint – gender and media” focuses on the depiction of the gender discourse in Swiss news media since 1968. What has happened since women gained suffrage in 1971? What arguments can be found in the media back then and now describing the status and position of women and men in society?
My second focus is on the careers of female journalists in the same time span. I am interested in finding out what professional biographies female journalists had 40 years ago and what has changes since then.
My research and teaching interests cover different fields: Gender and media, gender studies, risk communication, public information campaigns, regional newspapers – regional journalism
I am a member of the Swiss Association of Communication and Media Research (SACM) as well as of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).
Furthermore I am member of the expert body “Gender Studies” at the University of Zurich, Switzerland and a member of the association Feminist Scholarship Switzerland.
