Urban China Research Centre

Urban China Research Centre is a major research centre based in the School of City and Regional Planning at Cardiff University. It acts as a vehicle for bridging spatial planning and urban studies and strengthening urban China research and networking. The Centre uses the Chinese city as a laboratory to study contemporary urban transition and sponsors planning policy studies through comparative perspectives. The Centre aims to bring together expertise from a wide range of disciplines to understand China's urbanization and the making of urbanism as a historical event of world significance.

Urban China mailing list is one of the two major mailing lists related to urban China studies and China geography. It has been established since 1999 and has over 260 members worldwide. It is free to join and post messages. The list has a webpage which archives previous messages and allows you to join.

2nd International Conference on China's Urban Transition and City Planning

Following the successful first conference in 2007, the School of City and Regional Planning will organize the 2nd International Conference on China’s Urban Transition and City Planning.
This conference will provide an opportunity for researchers in urban studies, geography, sociology, political sciences, and city planning as well as China studies to explore multi-facets of China’s urban transition and the policy implications for city planning and development.
