Course structure

This is a 1-year full time programme, running from September to September.

In the first 2 semesters you’ll study 6 taught modules. On successful completion of the taught stage, you’ll undertake an individual major project.

The modules shown are an example of the typical curriculum. Final modules will be published one month ahead of your programme starting.

Taught Stage (September – June)
You’ll study 6 modules across the first 2 semesters of your course. Modules are taught through lectures, seminars and workshops. You’ll work in a variety of group-based situations, helping you to develop core skills in leadership, teamworking, and effective communication. You’ll be supported in your own independent learning, through a variety of activities and formative assessment tasks.

You’ll also have the opportunity to embark on your own venture creation project.

Project Stage (June – September)
On successful completion of the taught stage, you’ll progress to the individual major project. You’ll either develop your own individual research project or, subject to academic performance and partner availability, you’ll work on a real-world business challenge.

In either case, you’ll be supported by an academic supervisor, who will mentor and support you throughout.

The University is committed to providing a wide range of module options where possible, but please be aware that whilst every effort is made to offer choice this may be limited in certain circumstances. This is due to the fact that some modules have limited numbers of places available, which are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, while others have minimum student numbers required before they will run, to ensure that an appropriate quality of education can be delivered; some modules require students to have already taken particular subjects, and others are core or required on the programme you are taking. Modules may also be limited due to timetable clashes, and although the University works to minimise disruption to choice, we advise you to seek advice from the relevant School on the module choices available.

Learning and assessment

How will I be taught?

You’ll benefit from a dynamic and rigorous learning experience designed to bridge academic excellence with real-world application. You'll be taught by experts who bring cutting-edge insights and industry connections directly into the classroom, ensuring your education reflects the latest developments in project management and entrepreneurship.

Learning is highly interactive, with substantial emphasis on collaborative groupwork that mirrors professional project environments. Through team-based assignments and projects, you'll develop essential collaboration, communication, and leadership skills while learning from diverse perspectives. This collaborative approach is balanced with individual study that allows you to pursue specific interests, conduct independent research, and develop your unique entrepreneurial vision.

Our combination of expert teaching, collaborative learning, independent exploration, and practical assessment creates a comprehensive educational experience that prepares you for immediate professional impact.

How will I be assessed?

You’ll undertake both formative and summative assessments throughout your degree. This combination of assessments ensures you develop capabilities directly transferable to professional contexts, whether launching your own venture or leading projects within organisations.

Formative assessments don’t count towards your degree but allow you to practise your skills and get timely feedback from both your peers and lecturers. Summative assessments are scheduled throughout the year and are designed to build confidence and give you the opportunity to demonstrate your abilities.

Our assessment methods are designed to be authentic and practical, moving beyond traditional exams to include pitches, project proposals, case study analyses, and presentations that simulate real entrepreneurial and project management challenges. In the final semester you’ll undertake a major project, allowing you to showcase the breadth of your skills, potentially in collaboration with an industrial partner organisation.

How will I be supported?

Course materials will be provided on Learning Central, our Virtual Learning Environment. You’ll also have access to libraries across our campus which hold over 1.1 million printed books, supplemented by online books, journals, resources and databases.
