Academic support

We can hosts companies, offer advice on a range of Quality Management Systems, facilitate academic collaborations, and support access to a wide range of resources.

Our Central Biotechnology Services offers a wide range of facilities that support life science research.

The technology areas include:

  • flow cytometry cell analysis and sorting (including virus-infected cells and particles)
  • automated DNA/RNA extraction
  • gene expression (qPCR and Affymetrix microarrays)
  • bioinformatics services and training
  • protein analysis (Mesoscale Discovery for the quantitative analysis of multiple proteins and Biacore SPR for investigating protein-protein interactions)

CBS Technical Specialists will support research or managed projects from the outset, giving advice on experimental design to enable the production of high-quality data and the delivery of excellent data analysis.

CBS also hosts companies, offers expert advice on a range of Quality Management Systems, can facilitate academic collaborations and consultancy, and support access to a wide range of resources and expertise across Cardiff University. One of these offerings is the Cardiff Lipidomics Facility which provides mass spectrometry services, both internally and externally to analyse and quantify lipids and small molecules.
