Characterisation Laboratories for Environmental Engineering Research (CLEER)

A wide range of equipment for the preparation and analysis of chemical compositions of aqueous, solid, liquid and gaseous materials.

The facility also comprises standard laboratory glassware and laboratory bench space.

Ion Chromatograph Dionex ICS-2000 Ion Chromatograph For analyses of aqueous cations and anions.
Mercury analyser Leco Hg analyser AMA 254 For the analysis of mercury in solid and liquid samples e.g. coal samples.
Micro-gas chromatograph Varian CP-4900 For quantiative analysis of light gases from hydrogen to C20 gases.
Microwave digestion system Anton Parr Multiwave 3000 A preparation method for ICP analysis this machine uses high temperature acid digestion to solubilise solid samples.
Sulphur/Carbon analyser Leco S/C analyser SC-144 DR High temperature combustion method for analysis of total carbon and sulphur in solid samples.
Total Organic Carbon and Nitrogen analyser Shimadzu For analysis of total carbon and nitrogen in aqueous and solid samples.
