We are one of the UK's largest centres of psychology and offer a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research opportunities.
We are dedicated and passionate about teaching and conducting research in psychology. Our school is long established, well resourced, and has an excellent international reputation. We take an inclusive approach to education and fully support our students in achieving their learning goals.
In the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF) our research quality was ranked 2nd in the UK for Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience.
We offer students the opportunity to learn about the breadth of psychology while achieving a British Psychological Society recognised qualification. Students can also incorporate a professional placement, organised through our pre-existing extensive network of placement partners, including, for example, local and national hospitals, care units, forensic psychiatric services and prisons, as well as national and international universities.
Our size has the benefit of allowing us to offer expert teaching across most of the major areas in psychology, organised under four broad themes:
Students also participate in our current research through projects, seminars, vacation schemes and some opportunities for part-time employment.
Equality and diversity
We are committed to promoting equality and diversity. We strive to exemplify best practice in all our activities.
We have been awarded the Athena SWAN silver award. The Athena SWAN Charter recognises and celebrates supporting women in science, engineering and technology (SET) in higher education and research.
We offer a stimulating and rewarding place to study and Cardiff is a vibrant, growing capital city surrounded by outstanding natural beauty. These two qualities present unparalleled opportunities for personal and professional development.
Whether you come here to undertake the BSc Psychology programme as an undergraduate, to further your education through postgraduate study, or to join or partner with our team of world-leading researchers you’ll be working with us to shape the profession of Psychology and improve patients' lives.
