Cardiff Business School experts deliver training to young professionals with innovative logistics programme

Experts of the PARC Institute of Manufacturing, Logistics and Inventory provided training to young professionals as part of the DSV Accelerate Programme.
Cardiff University has further strengthened its strategic partnership with leading Danish transport and logistics company DSV, paving the way for future innovators, world class research and business development on an international scale.
Accelerate supports ambitious achievers within DSV, fast-tracking careers towards senior manager and solution designer roles.
This year’s programme again welcomed trainees from all over the world.
Professor Aris Syntetos said, “Accelerate is a particularly special programme for us at Cardiff.
As DSV’s only external academic provider, the PARC Institute has the privilege of working with some of the company’s most talented young professionals from around the world and helping prepare them for future leadership roles.
“It’s also a wonderful example of what the PARC Institute was created to do - to bring academia and industry genuinely together, combining cutting-edge thinking with the realities and challenges of global logistics.”
Participants received training and attended workshops on:
- operational excellence and sustainability
- forecasting for circular economy
- inventory planning
- transportation planning, and
- manufacturing management.
The training sessions were led by PARC Institute members Professor Aris Syntetos, Professor Maneesh Kumar, Professor Daniel Eyers, Dr Thanos Goltsos, and Dr Danny Mogale.
As part of the programme, the cohort visited Cardiff University’s RemakerSpace and learned more about the Institute.
The week-long training ended with presentations from participants, featuring a closing ceremony speech from Head of Cardiff Business School, Professor Deborah Hann:

2026 marks the fourth cohort of Accelerate graduates as it continues to help shape the future of logistics.
Professor Syntetos expanded on how PARC Institute is shaping developments in logistics, “By co-locating academics and industry professionals at DSV, we’re able to cycle collaboratively between fundamental research and practical implementation.
“For example, logistics practitioners feed us with important and relevant problems, which we then research and solve offering back practical solutions, which are implemented directly in the logistics world, providing us in turn with feedback and more (new) research questions and problems, and so on.
“Our close work with DSV means we work directly with other organisations in logistics, ensuring that we shape developments and policy making in the industry.
“One great example is the hard-coding of algorithms developed by best-selling supply chain software packages, increasing the uptake of our methods and our influence of real world logistics practices.”
He also detailed why Cardiff University is proudly able to deliver research-led training for future generations, “All our engagement and teaching initiatives in PARC are founded in ground-breaking research.
“Our fundamental research drives both our engagement initiatives like the RemakerSpace – our flagship centre in circular economy – supported by the Welsh Government and DSV, where teaching programmes like Accelerate can thrive.
“We have terrific academics, industry support, and fantastic government support in the area of logistics, making Cardiff a natural provider of research-led executive education in the UK.”
