A new home for Cardiff alumni in Shanghai

The Cardiff University China Alumni Association (Shanghai) is preparing to launch a new dedicated alumni space in Shanghai, designed to bring graduates together for networking, professional development and community-building.

The initiative builds on the chapter's active programme of annual summits, entrepreneurship salons and regular alumni forums, which currently engage more than 1,600 alumni across four WeChat groups.

Located in Yangpu District, the new alumni hub will provide flexible space for alumni events, knowledge-sharing activities, business networking and coworking. The volunteer-led project aims to create a welcoming base where Cardiff graduates can reconnect, collaborate and support one another throughout their careers.

Jingrui Yang (MBA 2004), who is leading the initiative, said: "Our vision is to create a home for Cardiff alumni in China that goes beyond a physical space. We hope it will become a place where alumni can exchange ideas, build trusted relationships across industries and generations, and continue learning from one another throughout their lives."

Barry Sullivan, Deputy Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Cardiff University, added: "We are incredibly grateful to Jingrui for his generosity, vision and tireless commitment to Cardiff University and our alumni community. For many years he has been a passionate champion of Cardiff and has played a leading role in bringing alumni together across China. This new space is a wonderful example of alumni supporting one another, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have for Cardiff graduates in Shanghai and beyond."

The space is currently under development, with further details and launch celebrations to be announced in the coming months.
