The Power of Public Value podcast returns for series three with compelling stories of business for good
6 October 2025
Cardiff Business School’s podcast, The Power of Public Value, is back for a third series, exploring how the School is driving meaningful business change that goes beyond profit.
Hosted by Professor Peter Wells, Pro Dean of Public Value at Cardiff Business School, each episode highlights a guest's unique journey in using business as a force for good for the benefit of our current and future generations.
From unpacking fast fashion and discussing the psychology behind financial decision making to addressing how brand ethics influence consumer trust and championing local entrepreneurship, the series once again delves into how public value is embedded in research, teaching, and engagement at Cardiff Business School.
The Power of Public Value helps listeners to think differently about how business can shape our society and economy. Tune in to hear how guests interpret, define, and represent the School’s public value principles, guided by their motivations, values, backgrounds, and research interests.
Series three of The Power of Public Value podcast ranges from conversations with the longest serving member of the Management Board and of our Advisory Board, to our latest PhD intake. We touch upon the grounding of family life, the joys of cake, what it takes to be a passive investor, green branding, why games are important and finding ways to cooperate better. These are podcasts with a purpose!
The new series begins on Wednesday 8 October, with episodes released weekly. In the first episode, Peter sits down with Amy Boote, a PhD student with a passion for fashion and sustainability.
After working as a buyer for a well-known retailer and feeling powerless about how to improve conditions for garment workers, Amy began her research project: Environmental Impact and Gender Inequality in the Fast Fashion Supply Chain: An Ecofeminist Perspective.
Amy discusses how she is motivated to break down the complexities of her research on climate resilience, empowering the garment worker voice and make a visible difference to supply chain policies.
