30(ish) Alumni Award winners 2025 announced
25 September 2025
The University’s 30(ish) Awards celebrate the achievements of alumni who have made a positive contribution to their community, and all before they hit 30. Well, 30(ish).
Recognising the change-makers, innovators, and rule-breakers in the Cardiff University alumni community, over 200 nominations were made this year. And unlike other ‘30 Under 30’ lists, these awards are open to alumni under or over 30, who feel 30(ish).
This year’s winners represent a wide range of industries from across the globe and include an illustrator making the Welsh language more accessible to young people and learners and a Paralympic sprinter and surgeon, turned-ESA Project astronaut. Also recognised are the founder of a charity supporting Black medical students and doctors, and an entrepreneur using sustainable technology to empower farmers in India.
In October, the winners will come back to Cardiff to collect their awards at a special ceremony hosted by the University’s Vice Chancellor. This year’s event will be emceed by 2024 winners, BBC Radio 1 DJs Sam MacGregor (BSc 2020) and Danni Diston (BA 2019).
On the night, the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Award will be presented to one exceptional winner, and the popular People’s Choice Award – voted for by past and present winners – will make its return.
Every year the 30(ish) Awards just keep getting better - and 2025 is no exception. We’ve been blown away, once again, by the quality of nominations and the seriously inspiring things Cardiff alumni are doing around the world. Our awards night is one of my favourite nights of the year and I can’t wait to bring together alumni, staff and students together to celebrate, reconnect, and spark new ideas.
