At the end of 2024, 3 students joined the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences as recipients of our inclusive PhD scholarships.

The scholarship opportunities, which were announced at the start of 2024, promote the benefits of SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy) researcher careers to more diverse communities.

Kirsty Lee was one of the students awarded the bursary. Since then, she has been working with the School of Journalism, Media and Culture on her project, The role of public health messaging in healthcare inequalities, focussing on BAME women and women with trauma.

We caught up with Kirsty to find out more about her project and her motivations for working in this area.
