CUREMeDE researcher, Sophie Bartlett, recently spent a week with other research colleagues in the School of Social Sciences at Gregynog Hall on a writing retreat. The retreat was led by SOCSI professors with extensive experience in publishing and as editors of academic journals.

The writing retreat was a great opportunity to step back from the fast-paced research environment of fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, and day-to-day emails, and spend a week away from campus focusing solely on developing research papers.

The retreat was a huge success for all who attended, and the opportunity to learn from such experienced colleagues within the school was invaluable. Sophie would recommend the writing retreat opportunity to anyone who struggles to find the time or headspace to develop their research papers. It was also a great opportunity to meet other colleagues within the school and learn about their areas of research.
