Sports digital agency Sotic are the latest tenants to join Cardiff Innovations@sbarc.

The company is rich in experience and expertise in the design and development of bespoke digital solutions for elite sport.

As industry leaders, Sotic has partnered some of the world’s biggest brands, supporting over 100 Olympic federations, national governing bodies and clubs across 22 different sports.

Sotic developers and engineers work autonomously and with the latest technologies to solve complex administrative and commercial problems unique to the business of sport.

Cardiff graduate and Managing Director Kate Maunsell (MA, 2005) said: “We see ourselves as incubators of potential – with our support and encouragement, many Sotic developers and engineers go on to establish their own businesses.

“Our relationship with Cardiff University opens up opportunities for us to foster and support new talent, and to work collaboratively on research and development projects in the field of data visualisation, AI and AR.  For us, being a part of Sbarc and sharing in its inclusive ethos, is extremely exciting. Our collectively chosen values of quality, innovation and passion underpin everything we do.”

Sotic were particularly attracted to tenancy at sbarc as it affords many opportunities to connect. Tenants are given the chance to contribute to a holistic community within the sbarc|spark building, mixing with academic and professional colleagues from the Social Science Research Park (SPARK), University stakeholders and partners, and student entrepreneurs.

The company boasts several Cardiff graduates amongst its current staff, including Roland Mercer (1997, Journalism, Film and Broadcasting), Greg Miles (2015, BA Archaeology, 2016 MA Archaeology) and George Emery (2014, Computer Systems Engineering).

Innovation Operations Manager Rhys Pearce-Palmer said: "We're delighted to welcome Sotic into the Cardiff Innovations family. There's something very exciting about an established business with a dynamic management team with clear innovation mindsets.

“Sotic has huge potential to work closely with the University on AI, AR, and data visualisation. We can't wait to support Sotic to make the most of locating their business at the heart of Cardiff University's Innovation Campus."

Featuring collaborative working spaces, a visualisation centre, auditorium and RemakerSpace, sbarc|spark provides the seedbed in which Wales can nurture and grow tomorrow’s big ideas.

One Sotic staff member commented: “Just being here is inspiring!”
