Employability month will give students an insight into the careers open to them after graduation.

An exciting month of online careers events for undergraduate students has been launched to provide greater insight into the job sectors and careers open to them after graduation.

The events, which are jointly organised by the School of Journalism, Media and Culture (JOMEC) and Cardiff University’s Student Futures team, will give students an opportunity to find out about the types of jobs that would suit their interests and career plans.

The events are designed to complement the suite of employability support already offered to students via the School’s employability focused modules.

Each event will look at a different grouping of industries, including:

  • TV, film and radio
  • Journalism
  • Marketing, PR and communications
  • Publishing
  • Creative industries

Dr Tom Allbeson, a lecturer in cultural history and co-organiser of the talks, said "Our students are eager to engage with their future and this months’ talks are another way for them to inform and shape their plans."

The all-new Centre for Student Life is home to the University's Student Life services.

The University’s Student Futures team offers careers and employability services for students and work in partnership with academic Schools, the Students' Union and hundreds of graduate recruiters each year.

Students can access their Student Futures account via the student intranet to access a host of resources, sign up for events and book appointments with careers and employability advisers.

Chris Barnes, Student Futures’ careers adviser in JOMEC and co-organiser added, "These talks will open new opportunities for our students in sectors that perhaps they wouldn’t have considered before."
