The School of Music is among the top 10 Music departments in the UK, says the Complete University Guide.

This result comes after a continual rise through the rankings in recent years, thanks to the exceptional work done by our staff and students.

Among our other achievements, we were most pleased to hear that we reached 6th in the UK among Music departments for our rate of student satisfaction. In the 2019 National Student Survey we achieved an overall student satisfaction rating of 96%.

The Complete University Guide ranks over 130 UK universities on entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects and is used by a large number of university applicants to help their decisions.

Professor Kenneth Hamilton, Head of the School of Music said: “We are always pleased to be recognised for our dedication to excellence and giving our students the best possible experience.

This has been especially important to us in the recent months during the Covid-19 crisis, with all of our teaching moving online. Thankfully, due to the hard work and quick innovation of our staff, we have been able to provide our students with a wide range of online learning tools and activities, including videos, online group seminars and instrumental lessons, individual dissertation supervision and personal tutor support.

“We hope to be able to continue to uphold our excellent rate of student satisfaction and hopefully continue to see a further rise in the rankings next year.”
