PARC Institute announces winner of the 2019 DSV-Panalpina Award for Strategic and Innovative Thinking

Every year DSV-Panalpina invites students from Cardiff University to come into our business and make recommendations to our senior team on strategic areas of global supply chain innovation.
This year saw entrants from the MSc Logistics and Operations Management and Master Business Administration (M.B.A) courses of Cardiff Business School. The research covered topics including 5G, the Belt and Road Initiative and the expected future changes due to the transition from linear to circular supply chains. While students from the Engineering School focused on the topic of predictive maintenance in additive manufacturing and predictive analytics for business development.
We are proud to announce that Akshita Rangnekar has won this years’ award. Akshita’s prize winning ideas focused on identifying opportunities related to the introduction of 5G with a particular focus on the field of installations services.
Sophie Hazell, who mentored the students during the industry projects with Cardiff University explains, “Akshita did a fantastic job at understanding our current business models, and making suggestions on how we could take it further”.
The PARC Award has been running for 7 years, and as Andrew Lahy explains “We are always looking for new insights about the future of global supply chains, and every year students from Cardiff University provide us with new ideas about what the future holds. Akshita´s research gave us new insight and a new perspective on the likely future impact of 5G on global supply chains”.
The award was presented by Aris Syntetos and Emrah Demir, at a conference held at Cardiff University on the future of the transport industry. Aris Syntetos commented, “this is another fine example of Cardiff University’s impact on improving real world practices and industry. We are delighted to have presented the award to Akshita”.
