The Six Nations rugby tournament kicks off this weekend with Cardiff University students and alumni looking to making an impact with the women’s and men’s squads.

Hallam Amos is in the men’s squad but is currently injured while Elinor Snowsill, Robyn Wilkins and Lilianna Podpadec are in the women’s squad.

Liliana, a first year geography student, and Hallam, who is studying medicine, are current students while Elinor and Robyn are former students.

Hal, who plays for the Dragons, has been chosen for the men’s Six Nations squad once again after making a major impact for Wales during the 2017 autumn internationals, scoring tries against Australia and Georgia.

He is following in the footsteps of Jamie Roberts who also played for Wales while studying medicine at Cardiff University.

Meanwhile, Dragons player Liliana is among the development players in the Wales squad and will train with the senior squad throughout the tournament.

She is part of the University’s High Performance Programme, which helps students excel in both their sporting and academic careers during their time at Cardiff.

The Wales women start their campaign against Scotland at Parc Eirias, Colwyn Bay, on Friday 2 February, while the men take on Scotland the following day at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
