An exciting new postgraduate degree in Software Engineering has been launched at the National Software Academy.

The MSc Software Engineering is designed for graduates from diverse backgrounds who have some prior experience of programming to gain the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience to be effective as a commercial software engineer.

On this one-year programme based at the National Software Academy in Newport, students will undertake practical development using current leading edge commercial tools and techniques and be exposed to direct industrial involvement in a dynamic commercial-like environment.

Dr Wendy Ivins, Programme Director for the National Software Academy, said: “We know from talking to industry and businesses that there is significant demand for skilled software engineers. The National Software Academy is committed to addressing this shortfall by producing highly employable, sought-after professionals and we are looking forward to our first cohort of students from the undergraduate programme graduating next summer.

"This new MSc in Software Engineering is an exciting development that embeds experience of working in teams on projects for real clients into the course. The course will produce graduates with an industrial edge through frequent and meaningful opportunities to meet with industry and business, so they will be ideally placed for a career within software engineering, or employment in the wider technology industry".
