Working lunch with public value advocate

5 December 2017

Professor Timo Meynhardt delivering workshop

A leading public value expert has delivered a teaching workshop as part of a working lunch in Cardiff Business School.

Professor Timo Meynhardt, the Dr Arend Oetker Chair of Business Psychology and Leadership at the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, Germany and Managing Director of the Centre for Leadership and Values in Society at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, led a discussion about embedding public value in a university’s curriculum.

Professor Meynhardt used Leipzig’s Leadership Model for teaching with a public value orientation to encourage conversation on methodology, assessment tools, leadership styles, coaching programmes and systemic thinking.

The workshop inspired lively discussion and also covered the synergies between Cardiff and Leipzig and potential opportunities for collaboration across course delivery, student entrepreneurship and social development.

“This was a thought-provoking workshop, as well as a unique and valuable opportunity bringing together colleagues from different sections to exchange and discuss ideas around inclusion of public value into our teaching.”

Professor Nicole Koenig-Lewis Professor of Marketing

This is the fourth public value workshop delivered at the School since the launch of its ambitious strategy in late 2015.

The series of workshops are designed to raise awareness of the public value philosophy and facilitate learning about its role in the contemporary global business world.
