Cardiff University medical students - 14 March 2016

A Cardiff University spokesperson said: “We can confirm we have received a number of complaints in relation to an alleged incident involving Cardiff University medical students.

“The incident is subject to a formal investigation by Cardiff University in line with the University’s Student Disciplinary Code. An investigating officer has been appointed independent of the School of Medicine.

“Cardiff University takes issues relating to equality and diversity very seriously and is committed to supporting, developing and promoting equality and diversity in all of our activities.

“In response to these allegations the Dean of Medicine has written to all staff and students to remind them of the University’s clear policy on equality and diversity.

“The University aims to establish an inclusive culture free from discrimination and based upon the values of dignity, courtesy and respect.

“Any student found to have behaved unacceptably may be the subject of disciplinary action as set out in the Student Disciplinary Code.

“As the independent investigation is on-going, the University will not be commenting further until the outcome of the investigation is known.”
