Political Theory

Political theory deals with the crucial ideas that drive all political life.

We deploy canonical as well as cutting-edge theories to ask big questions about justice and political community, and to illuminate hidden assumptions behind political actions and beliefs.

Our work is cross-disciplinary and inclusive. Members work from North Atlantic and non-European traditions, including modern European philosophy, British idealism, Rawlsian and Kantian liberalism, international political theory and theories of justice, as well as decolonial/postcolonial theory, theories of the Global South, indigenous, pan-African, and Daoist thought.

We provide a supportive and welcoming space for researchers to develop and sound out ideas, and we regularly host seminars by national and international researchers who are at the forefront of their fields.
