After working as a qualified social worker for seven years, I moved over to higher education in 2014, and was appointed as Lecturer in Social Work in 2018. Most of my time in practice was spent in the Children's Hospital for Wales. I completed my Professional Doctorate in Social Work in 2018, which was based on an ethnographic study of a hospital social work team, whose work centred around discharge planning for older people. This work formed the basis of my first book, Critical Hospital Social Work Practice, which was published by Routledge in 2020. My research interests include social work with older people, rights-based practice and care planning. I teach primarily on the MASW, and am a member of the Senior Personal Tutor Team, which supports the school's personal tutoring programme and provides enhanced pastoral support to students.

I teach primarily on the MA Social Work, but also provide some input to the MSc Social Science Research Methods (SSRM) Social Work/Care Pathway and professional doctorate programmes in the school.
