Functional Fires in Historic Buildings, What Cost VE?

The thesis will look not only at how open fires aid visitor experience in historic buildings, but also how they impact upon the environmental parameters within the conservation envelope. Working with The National Museum of Wales, experimentation in historic buildings will provide environmental data, this will be reproduced in the laboratory with material samples being tested. From this scientific data, it is hoped a more detailed understanding of the impact of open fires will be made.
