Alcohol misuse: electronic longitudinal alcohol study in communities (ELAStiC)

The ELAStiC project looks at the impact of alcohol misuse on health and well-being with outputs which are relevant to academics, policy makers and practitioners and challenge harmful alcohol use in the UK and the world.

This project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Medical Research Council (MRC) and Alcohol Research (ARUK).

The aims of the ELAStiC project are to:

  • determine pathways into alcohol use and misuse and the life-course effects of alcohol misuse on health and well-being
  • access existing longitudinal data, link them with routine health and administrative data and develop statistical methods and modelling techniques to analyse and interpret them
  • understand the impact of varying definitions of alcohol use on outcomes
  • produce multi-disciplinary outputs which are relevant to academics, policy makers and practitioners and challenge harmful alcohol use in the UK and the world.
