Please be aware that our next Breakfast Briefing, examining the subject of “Water Scarcity: Threats and Opportunities for Wales”, will take place on Friday May 3^rd.  

In March, Sir James Bevan, Chief Executive of the Environment Agency, argued that England was facing the "jaws of death", moving to a point where water demand from the country’s rising population surpasses the falling supply resulting from climate change. But what does this mean for Wales?

This Breakfast Briefing, being chaired by Professor Max Munday, will examine Wales’ most valuable resource – fresh water. It considers the importance of healthy freshwater ecosystems for the Welsh economy and its businesses, and shows how issues of water scarcity and competing demands for the resource are becoming important for a range of businesses, not just in utilities and manufacturing, but also for sectors such as construction, financial, legal and business services.

We will also share work undertaken in the Cardiff University Water Research Institute, a group designed to help Wales make better choices around the use of our shared water resources, to help your business better navigate this critical issue.
