Future generation thinking

Students operating a robot in a modern classroom environment

We believe that universities have a responsibility not only to understand the future, but to help shape it - and to develop the people who will help make that happen.

For us this means research focused on what will matter most to those who come next. Students who build the skills and confidence to act in uncertainty. And a civic role - in Cardiff, in Wales, and beyond - grounded in the belief that the decisions we make today shape the lives of future generations.

In Wales, acting for future generations is written into law. Grounded in this distinctive national context, that responsibility shapes how we think, how we teach, who we serve and what we are becoming. It gives us a clear direction for the years ahead: to think beyond today, and act for generations to come.

This is the mission that drives us.
This is Future Generation Thinking.
