Cardiff Historical Papers

Cardiff Editorial Advisory Board

Cardiff University History and Welsh History series of occasional papers.

Editorial Policy

This occasional paper series welcomes submissions of three different sorts:

  1. Articles based on new and original primary source-based research. These will normally be at a stage approaching final revisions prior to submission to a journal or book for publication. The idea is that such articles will benefit from early exposure in the public domain where feedback from readers is encouraged. Such articles should usually be not longer than 12,000 words (excluding notes and references).
  2. Survey and speculation pieces, which may be historiographical or methodological in focus, of up to 10,000 words (excluding notes and references).
  3. Short pieces (up to c. 3,000 words) such as
    • reactions or replies to recently published books or articles which are more extended in scope than a book review
    • comment on a particular historical source or historical methodology.

The appearance of a paper in the series does not preclude subsequent publication in revised form in an academic book or journal. The author retains the copyright of the material.

Submissions should follow the format and conventions outlined in the Cardiff Historical Papers Guidelines and be sent electronically to the General Editor, Dr Gerwin Strobl.
