Archaeology & Conservation

Cardiff Archaeology and Conservation is one of the leading departments in the United Kingdom and Europe and is founded on a deep tradition of providing students with the key skills and knowledge necessary for a career or further study in archaeology or for employment in a wide range of fields: from teaching to banking, from management to a host of commercial services. State-of-the-art facilities, laboratories, libraries and a team of outstanding lecturers provide students with a robust education in one of the most rewarding fields of study. Hands-on experience on excavations and in the labs is matched by learning challenges in the classroom and library. Strong pastoral support within the department is supplemented by university-wide assistance in housing, finances and career development.
Cardiff has rocketed up the archaeological league tables to 11 from 14th place last year. 40 universities are listed. Scores are based on student satisfaction, entry standards, research assessment and graduate prospects
