Understanding Texts - 10 credits (HST011)
This module is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for conducting research on ancient literary texts, including inscriptions and papyri. Topics studied include manuscript traditions, the editing and publication of texts, scholarly conventions in the presentation of texts, commentaries and other essential research tools. Assessment is through class exercises and a short written discussion of a source relevant to the student's research.
