MPharm Research Project in final year
PH4208
AIMS OF THE MODULE
To allow students to develop an in-depth understanding through conducting a research project of some aspect of; the clinical, social or professional application of pharmacy, pharmacology, pharmaceutical technology or medicinal chemistry. The research project will include library research to establish background and state of knowledge, data generation using social science or laboratory techniques and / or meta or secondary analysis of published data and conclude with the preparation of a thesis describing the research conducted and the conclusions made.
Students complete approximately 180hrs of closely supervised research following a plan discussed with, and agreed by, their supervisor. This is supplemented by approximately 40hrs of directed reading (related to their research area) and 80hrs of data analysis.
In addition to the thesis, students are required to present a poster outlining their key findings at a poster presentation event in late April. An abstract book of most projects is compiled each year and are available from 2008 below.
