Data Analysis

What are the key messages we can learn from the data and can turn into action?

Liza Van Zyl is the data analyst within the Widening Access team in LEARN.
Her work develops our ability to support both the strategic direction of the Widening Access and Retention strategy and the implementation of Widening Access activities.

Through an understanding of the Student life-cycle – from application stage, enrolment, through student retention to degree outcome – we hope to understand better where to focus our energies to ensure success for all.

Liza is currently exploring how students from Communities First areas in Wales fare through the student life-cycle.

By analysing the patterns in the data we aim to be able to direct resources towards those groups of students who could most benefit from additional support, information or advice.
Liza also supports the Widening Access activities delivered by the Academic Schools at Cardiff University. She can help support academic staff analyse their Schools data.
