Module 2 - Run-up to examination
Please note that the course stops for the Christmas period.
| Aims and objectives: | This module is first and foremost designed for students
who require an intensive, highly practical run-up to the examination for
Paper 1 of the Institute of Linguists' Diploma in Translation. The overall objective is to develop the student's abilities and techniques while also providing adequate, regular practice so that the student may be able ultimately to translate to professional standard under examination conditions. |
| Course structure: | The module runs for sixteen weeks. Eight past paspers are to be translated at regular intervals. These source language texts will be past papers from the actual examination. Please note that the Institute of Linguists has decided to completely remove the annotation practice from Unit 1. The translations should be sent to the subject specialist lecturer, who will carefully mark each translation according to the "Diploma in Translation: Marking Guidelines". A detailed Translation Mark Sheet will then be issued to each student, providing feedback and suggestions for reflection and possible improvement. |
