Nick Jones joined the Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning in March 2008. He is currently Co-ordinating Lecturer in the Humanities (responsible for organising the Music and Creative Writing provision) and Chair of the Learning and Teaching Committee. He is a graduate of Cardiff University, where he gained a PhD in 1999 for an analytical study of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’s Third Symphony and a portfolio of original compositions. From 2005 to 2007 he was a Lecturer in Music and Deputy Chair of the MA in Music programme at The Open University. Nick is also an Associate Lecturer at Cardiff University’s School of Music, a position he has held since 1996.
Research Interests
Nick’s research interests lie primarily in post-war British music, particularly that of Peter Maxwell Davies, William Mathias and Anthony Powers. He is currently working on a book concerning the writings of Peter Maxwell Davies and carrying out research on the string quartets of Michael Tippett.
