Structure of the Foundation Pathway
Taking in the disciplines of history, ancient history, archaeology and religious studies with topics from prehistory through to the modern era, the Exploring the Past Foundation Pathway forms a coherent, flexible and multi-disciplinary progression route providing you with the intellectual and practical skills essential for studying in a Higher Education environment.

Group1 Core courses These courses are compulsory if you wish to complete the foundation pathway, they aim to introduce students to key concepts, skills and methods and provide a foundation for study at degree level. For information on courses please click here. |
Group 2 Optional courses These optional courses will provide students with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills and to explore particular aspects or periods of the past which reflect teaching/research areas taught in the School of History Archaeology and Religion including broadly archaeology, prehistory, ancient history, medieval history, early-modern and modern history. * This can include language modules. Permission to ‘opt in’ 10 Choices credits to the Foundation Pathway will be at the discretion of the pathways co-ordinator /director of studies.
