Journalism Studies provides a critical forum for the study of journalism as a subject for intellectual and academic inquiry. Journalism Studies brings together researchers, teachers and students from around the world for the scrutiny, analysis and development of all aspects of journalism education and journalism studies.
The intention is that the journal will help to establish journalism studies as an academic discipline within the landscape of UK Higher education.
The Journal co hosted a web-based conference on Journalism Education with Penn State University, USA in 2001; and was involved with organising a conference in Brazil in September 2006 exploring Journalism Theory: Comparative studies across the international divide.
Journalism Studies has quickly established itself as one of the leading international journals within the field, moving to publication of six issues annually in 2006. For the publisher, Journalism Studies has proved to be its most successful launch, achieving very high institutional subscriptions in its early years.
