Presently, I work between the School of Planning and Geography and School of Medicine.
My PhD research had examined the associations between detailed neighbourhood-level built environment and individual health outcomes (see: http://medicine.cf.ac.uk/person/chinmoy-sarkar/). These researches form the basis of my book published in April 2014.
Presently, I work between the School of Planning and Geography and School of Medicine. As a principle morphometric and statistical analyst in the UK Biobank - Built Environment Project, my research work will this time involve scaling-up the PhD project through the automated construction of built environment morphological metrics for half a million cohort members UK Biobank. My goal is to develop more robust and causal models of associations between built environment and health and testing them on one of the largest epidemiological cohorts. I also work as a Research Associate in the WHealth modelling project funded under the ESRC Transformative Research program. The project aims to develop an all-encompassing evidence-based place-making and city-shaping paradigm based on epidemiologic research models in which the individual is the fundamental unit of analysis.
