The Cardiff School of City and Regional Planning (CPLAN) strives to be a centre of excellence in research, teaching and policy and practice, associated with the planning and management of cities and regions.

Postgraduate courses
The School runs a series of specialist masters courses which provide professional and academic training through a variety of routes.
Undergraduate courses
The School offers a four-year 'spatial planning' BSc, which includes a placement in year three, and a three-year BSc in Geography (Human) and Planning.
Research
The School plays a leading international role in its fields of expertise and its research has an agenda-setting influence in key debates on the development, management and sustainability of cities and regions.
It has been consistently rated the top planning school in the UK in terms of its research environment and number of world-leading researchers.

- ESRC/DFID Research Grants
Alison Brown and Professor Fulong Wu have been awarded research grants from ESRC/DFID.
- CPLAN participates in new Research Institute
The School will be playing a major part in the University’s new Sustainable Places Research Institute.
- 'Best Student Paper' Award
Owen Hughes, a MSc Transport and Planning student, won the 'Best Student Paper' Award at the CILT Cymru National Transport Awards.

Yvonne Wilday, a second year BSc City and Regional Planning student, has won the South Wales Women in Property Award (student category).
- ESRC CASE PhD Studentship
Applications are invited for a 3 year fully funded PhD studentship starting in October 2010.
- WAG Bursaries for CPLAN MSc
Four Welsh Assembly Government bursaries are available for students enrolling on MSc Planning Practice and Research.
