Viral epidemiology and practice
Viral epidemiology is the study of how viral infections spread, distribute, and behave within populations.
Research expertise
Our group specialises in the study of blood‑borne viruses (including HIV and viral hepatitis), respiratory viruses, infectious disease transmission, public health and prevention, and the health of marginalised communities.
Methodologically, we bring together expertise in epidemiology, behavioural science, clinical trials, health services research, implementation science, policy evaluation, and infectious disease ecology and modelling using mathematical, statistical and computational approaches.
Strategic focus
We aim to advance equitable infectious disease research, primarily on blood‑borne and respiratory viruses, through high-quality, policy-relevant, and impactful research and evaluation.
Collaboration with team
We work closely with other work streams to accelerate the translation of basic virology discoveries into practice.
Our team uses innovative applied research and in‑depth studies of patient and public experience to refine new approaches and shape future research directions.
We support viral disease research by producing bespoke viruses, proteins, and organoids, and through mathematical modelling, clinical trials, and public health evaluations.
