Dr Clea Rees
I read Mathematics and Philosophy at Jesus College, Oxford, before completing a doctorate in Philosophy at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
After teaching at the University of California, Berkeley and Santa Cruz, I returned to Cardiff in 2006 and began teaching part-time courses in 2008. My courses include Introduction to Moral Philosophy, The Philosopher’s Alice and Philosophical Fiction and Fantasy.
My introductory courses, especially in ethics, draw on fictional and non-fictional examples to illustrate philosophical ideas. I am interested in enabling students to appreciate and engage with philosophy.
I specialise in moral psychology and ethics with additional interests in feminist philosophy, philosophy of mind and logic.
Publications include Reclaiming the Conscience of Huckleberry Finn and The Visitors.
Current projects include A Problem with Moral Perfection and Are Intelligible Agents Square?
